Getting down to it!

Today the group of children from St Gerards made a start on their part of the artwork they are creating for the library in Castle Vale.

The project is shared with Topcliffe school and although it will be a single canvas, both schools are attending on different days and choosing different colours and techniques to produce a very original piece of art.

The enthusiastic approach to their art is a pleasure to see and both schools are approaching the joint effort with an attitude of friendly rivalry.

I can't wait to see the finished result. We have two or three more sessions each.

Scrumble 1

I just knew I wouldn't know when to stop scrumbling! this was great fun to do and I feel virtuous using up some of the yarn I have been unable to throw away. See, I knew that someday I would need it.

part 2

I have kept to my resolve to make something "arty"every day, so here are the latest efforts.

The ATCs are going to be made into a book so I have started adding a paper canvas piece so that I can add a cover and have them all in one place.

The needle felting is slowly becoming a more comfortable technique but still leaves a lot to be desired skill wise.

I am loving the relaxing feeling that a return to knitting and crochet has provided. Prudence Mapstone has an amazing website and flickr page where she introduces a "Scrumble" a week among other amazing stuff. A scrumble is a freeform piece of knitting/crochet which is then added to and added to and added to etc., These are just the bases which I will embellish to death. catching up

The box lid shown was made for daughter Jane's birthday yesterday so I can put a photo up without spoiling any surprises. The lid was OK but the box part was anything but! however since it featured family photos and anyway was just to contain the real "pressy" I posted it off to Holland. I could always blame the postal services for it's ramshackle appearance
