fig tree

Having just got back from a holiday with Pam and Joe in NI I have been amazed by the way the garden has sprouted in six days, particularly the weeds! However, the weather has been lovely the last couple of days so the weeding has been done and it's been great just enjoying the sun.

  1. Our fig tree grows in leaps and bounds each year...we cut it back, cut it down shorter and still it towers to the sky. top figs are for the birds and I hurry to collect the ones I can easily reach. Plenty for all including all the neighbors. Enjoy yours.

  3. I think this is the best time in the garden and the weather this year here in UK is on our side! Sadly, we lost our fig tree last winter, we will have to think of something to replace it.

  4. Thanks all, the fig tree is about 40 yrs old, we planted it not long after we moved in. I thought it had died one year but a new shoot appeared and just grew and grew. Sadly the figs never really ripen although last year they sort of did, but you would have to have been desperate to eat them. I too cut it back but it loves to grow and it's now about 10 feet tall !!
