Unveiling of the Library Leaders' Project

At last the children from St. Gerards and Topcliffe schools were able to see their hard work assembled and unveiled at the Library. They had all worked well both individually and in their school groups and all agreed that the final result was worth all the effort. Apart from this wall art the group have bought books, soft toys, bookstands and soft furnishing for the children's library as well as acting as "reading ambassadors" at their schools. The project was sponsored by Core Skills Funding to celebrate the Year of Reading 2008.

Sydney Hyperbolic Reef

Since I posted yesterday, several people have emailed me to get more info on the reef. The best way I can explain is not to, but to point everyone interested to the amazing website www.sydneyreef.blogspot.com
Last year was my first introduction to the coral reef crochet when I saw the fantastic one on show at the Knitting & Stitching show at the NEC in Birmingham. I had the opportunity (as did any member of the public) to add my bit and that was the beginning! I am trying to get my mind round how big a reef I can make because where do you put it when it's done? The current pieca is about 20 inches long.
I am finding this super scrumble to be the most fun I have had (in a craft sense of course) for a good while

Starting to add bigger pieces, I think they suit the piece more than the more delicate beads

Creating every day

Other than chaos, I am attempting to keep up the creating in a positive way! I am thoroughly enjoying making the mini notebooks, they are so simple to do and have the added virtue of using up all those "bits" that you could't throw away. I am also having a lot of fun making a new ATC size book, with beaded pages. Both these activities are of a size that feels manageable every day so don't present me with a "I don't have time" moment .
